Unity will set up a store for game development tools using crypto and Web3 technologies, in partnership with MetaMask, ImmutableX and Solana.

Unity, the world’s leading game development platform, announced that it will create a “Decentralize” section in its tool store. This popular game engine supplier will be collaborating with many of the major players in the crypto industry to create Web3 game development tools for the store.
The list of organizations partnered by Unity includes MetaMask wallet and Ethereum blockchain infrastructure unit Infura, Web3 game developer ImmutableX and blockchains Algorand, Aptos, Flow, Solana and Tezos.

With these new tools, Unity hopes to help game developers explore new ideas brought by crypto, NFT and the Web3 community economy, thereby creating more unique games and enhance the gamer experience.
MetaMask commented:
“The gaming industry is growing rapidly, and the Web3 gaming business is attracting a huge amount of investment. Our development tools on Unity will introduce Web3 values to the gaming space. This will be a new era for game developers.”
The blockchain game segment in 2022 has recorded a serious decline compared to its peak in 2021. According to statistics in February 2023 of Messari, the total number of Web3 game players and also the number of new players continue to maintain a downward trend since October last year until now. The amount of money raised for game projects is also dwindling.
However, this segment of the cryptocurrency market still sees many projects remaining such as Immutable, Axie Infinity, Yuga Labs, as well as participation from giant Square Enix.
