Part of the DefiLlama team is separating after teasing token release and airdrop

On the morning of March 19th, DefiLlama’s official Twitter page hinted that it will issue its own tokens and airdrops to the community of supporters of the DefiLlama DEX Meta-Aggregator liquidity aggregator solution.

Although DefiLlama DEX Meta-Aggregator was only launched in January 2023, as of now, the total transaction volume of DefiLlama DEX Meta-Aggregator has exceeded 5 billion US dollars, with more than 63,000 users and 410,000 asset swaps, which can be regarded as a huge achievement. success.

The DEX aggregator has an average daily user count of more than 3,000 and recorded more than $600 million in 24-hour transactions when the stablecoin USDC lost its peg on March 11. The DEX exchanges that DefiLlama’s aggregator navigates the most are 1inch, Matcha/0x, ParaSwap.

However, the community was shocked by the news that part of the DefiLlama team had decided to separate as they disagreed with the decision to issue tokens.

Specifically, the Twitter account of 0xngmi, one of the founders of DefiLlama, often referred to as the representative of the platform, stated:

“The DefiLlama team is forking the project. DefiLlama is being taken over. Trying to issue tokens that don’t represent our will. We don’t want to be attached to it.”

0xngmi further revealed that despite objections from another group, those who control the DefiLlama.com website and the project’s official Twitter account decided to issue the token. Therefore, some team members who have been confirmed by 0xngmi to build DefiLlama in the past 3 years and not for financial gain, chose to separate into a separate project called Llama.fi.

The interface and functionality of the Llama.fi page is almost identical to that of DefiLlama.com

0xngmi also warned the community not to believe the claims made on the DefiLlama Twitter page. He also confirmed the aforementioned post on the well-known LobsterDAO group in the DeFi community, confirming that it was not a hacked tweet.

In this regard, the DefiLlama “apprentice” Twitter account stated that 0xngmi broke up without authorization, intentionally infringed on the intellectual property rights of the DefiLlama brand, and provided false information.
