MetaMask Denies Airdrop Rumors

MetaMask said the rumors about the project taking a snapshot of the airdropped tokens were untrue.

Previously, multiple accounts on social networks reported that MetaMask was preparing a snapshot for March 31, with the condition of airdropping and exchanging four orders of more than $1,000.

Today, however, the official MetaMask Twitter account denied the rumor.

“There are a lot of false rumors surrounding the March 31st MetaMask snapshot/airdrop. These rumors are not only false, but dangerous. It creates opportunities for scammers and phishers. Beware of fake sites.”

However, activity on MetaMask has increased significantly due to rumors. According to Scope Protocol, the project recorded 2,352 new users and 13,644 transactions, the second highest in the past 90 days.

Airdrops are the focus these days. Large projects like Arbitrum, Optimism, Aptos, and others have airdropped hundreds of millions of dollars in tokens to users experiencing the platform. This makes airdrops an investment channel with attractive returns.

MetaMask not only provides basic transmission functions, but also bridge and exchange functions, and constantly develops new functions to meet users’ needs. On March 28, ConsenSys, the company behind MetaMask, launched the zkEVM Linea testnet, a network designed for privacy and scalability. The company also announced that it would reward those involved in building the network, without giving specifics.

While false airdrop rumors may disappoint some, MetaMask’s continued growth and development shows that it remains a popular and trusted crypto wallet option for users. It is important for cryptocurrency users to remain vigilant and avoid scams, especially during times of increased activity and attention.
