After a period of considering possible locations, the Ethereum Foundation has decided to choose Southeast Asia as the next venue for Devcon 7.
As introduced by Kyptos, Devcon is the most important event of the Ethereum community, held continuously in the 8-year history of the world’s second largest cryptocurrency.
Devcon is often the place where all members of the ETH community gather, from the leadership team and key developers from the Ethereum Foundation, to the top projects and new ideas waiting to shine, to Common crypto advocates can all find like-minded people at Devcon.
In 2022, Devcon VI was held in Bogota city (Colombia), attracting the attention of the Ethereum community in particular and the entire crypto sector in general because of its vibrant, impressive atmosphere and elaborate scale of the organizing committee. This is also the first Devcon organization since 2019, after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID epidemic, and is considered the most successful conference in history for the above reasons.

It can be seen that Devcon’s attraction is indisputable, especially when the Ethereum community is gradually expanding to a global scale, instead of locally in some early ETH-receiving regions.
By mid-2022, the Ethereum Foundation has begun to solicit comments from the community on the location of the next Devcon event, with many prominent candidates such as Istanbul (Turkey), Tel Aviv (Israel), Taipei ( Taiwan) or Singapore. Notably, there is a proposal from Kyber Network calling for bringing Devcon to Vietnam, specifically Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province.
After a long evaluation, on the evening of February 28, the Ethereum Foundation released the latest update on the time and location of Devcon 7.

First, instead of returning to the usual practice of an annual conference, the organizer decided to move Devcon 7 to 2024 to have more time to prepare, as well as to repeat the success from Devcon VII when the interval The long hiatus due to COVID allowed the Ethereum Foundation to learn more about the region and culture of the Latin American crypto community.
Second, Ethereum has decided to choose Southeast Asia as Devcon 7’s destination. The organizers choose an area that has never been visited by Devcon before, which will be an opportunity to connect the global Ethereum community, as well as increase diversity in the organization. The Ethereum Foundation also acknowledges Southeast Asia as one of the regions with the highest rate of cryptocurrency adoption in the world, with Vietnam and the Philippines ranked 1st and 2nd respectively in statistics conducted by the Ethereum Foundation. The Ethereum team will reopen the proposal forum so that the community can choose the most suitable Southeast Asian city for Devcon 7, with the registration deadline is March 15, 2023.
